Hitachi Extends Aid to Victims of earthquake in Sichuan Province, China

Tokyo, May 14, 2008 --- Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE:HIT / TSE:6501) today announced that on May 13 the Hitachi group established a Sichuan Earthquake Relief Task Force led by Chief Executive for China, Koushi Nagano. Hitachi group companies also decided to donate a total of 120,000,000 Japanese yen including relief supplies to support victims of the earthquake and to assist in the restoration effort in the affected areas. The group will place priority on the provision of construction equipment which is needed for the restoration, and will decide the detailed method of donation after confirming the status of the area and the real needs of the victims.
