Hitachi, Ltd. has developed and is now releasing two 16-Mbit mask ROM products, HN62W5016NF and HN62W4018MTA, that support page mode access(*1).

These products are designed for storing the operating system (OS), font data, and other data in personal computers, printers, and portable data communications terminals such as PDAs. Normal access time is 120 ns and page access time is 40 ns in these 3.3-V low- voltage devices.

The HN62W5016NF has a basic 32-bit structure that can be switched to run as 16-bit, and the HN62W4018MTA has a 16-bit structure. Hitachi will begin sample shipment of both products in March 1996 in Japan.

*1 Page mode: In this mode, the page is the smallest unit of data that can be read out. This mode increases the speed by reading out a larger amount of data at a time.
