Hitachi to Establish Outsourcing Company

-- Will Improve Hitachi Group Management Efficiency and Expand Service Business --

Hitachi, Ltd. today announced that the company and its six subsidiaries will establish an
outsourcing company to handle work relating to Hitachi Group's personnel affairs, payrolls,
accounting and financial management procedures and other such tasks with the aim of
improving Group management efficiency and expanding its service business. The new
company, Hitachi Triple Win Corporation will be established in February 2000 and will start
operations in April.

In November Hitachi announced its medium-term business plan, the i.e. Hitachi Plan. An
aim of the plan is to reorganize the companies of the Hitachi Group and to promote greater
liaison and cooperation between Group companies to improve management efficiency.
Along with this, a main component of the plan is the strengthening of financial services such
as those offered by Hitachi Credit Corporation and Hitachi Leasing, Ltd.

The equity funding for the new company is being put up by Hitachi, Ltd., Hitachi Metals,
Ltd., Hitachi Cable, Ltd., Hitachi Chemical Co., Ltd., Hitachi Engineering Co., Ltd.,
Hitachi Transport System, Ltd. and Hitachi Credit Corporation, with each company
investing the same amount.

The first to contract out work operations to the Hitachi Triple Win will be Hitachi Credit
Corporation, followed by the other founding companies, and other companies within the
Hitachi Group, thereby increasing the management efficiency of Group companies. By
also acting as an outsourcing firm for companies outside the Hitachi Group, the
operations of the new company will also play a major role in expanding the Group's
service business.

In April 2000, the new company will start work with a staff of around 70, mostly personnel
reassigned from the founding partners. A sales target of 2 billion yen by the year ending
March 2003 has been set.

Hitachi, Ltd., headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, is one of the world's leading global electronics
companies, with fiscal 1998 (ended March 31, 1999) consolidated sales of 7,977 billion yen
($65.9 billion*). The company manufactures and markets a wide range of products,
including computers, semiconductors, consumer products and power and industrial
