Tokyo, July 3, 2018 ---Hitachi Automotive Systems, Ltd. announced today that it will present an exhibit at The Automotive Engineering Exposition 2018 Nagoya (booth number 34). The exposition will be held from July 11 to July 13 at Nagoya International Exhibition Hall (Nagoya City, Aichi prefecture) under the sponsorship of the Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan. At this exhibit, Hitachi Automotive Systems will showcase products crucial to realizing the next generation of vehicles such as autonomous driving and electrification-related products as well as the actuation system that supports VCR (Variable Compression Ratio) engines.
At the exposition, Hitachi Automotive Systems will be exhibiting a wide range of mobility technologies, products and systems that contribute toward handling the worldwide rapid spread of autonomous driving and environmental regulations under the theme of "Moving Forward! To a future where people, cars and society are linked."
In relation to autonomous driving, "360o sensing technology" that detects surroundings by combining peripheral recognition sensors such as cameras and radars, and "safety control technology" using data from this sensing technology will be fitted to a showcase car for a virtual display which combines actual equipment and video footage. Additionally, "Auto Valet Parking" will be displayed as a use case of autonomous driving that can automatically park and pull out of a parking space near a set destination without a driver by following directions from the control center.
In response to environmental regulations, a high-efficiency engine system with improved fuel-economy will be featured. This engine system has achieved increased thermal efficiency and reduced environmental load through the use of simulation and analytical technology alongside continuous development of individual components. Furthermore, Hitachi Automotive Systems will showcase a new exhibit featuring the actuation system equipped on the VCR Engine that seamlessly shifts pistons to the highest position to optimize compression ratios with the aim of greater efficiency.

Hitachi Automotive Systems is moving forward with the development of fully integrated control systems combining safe, comfortable and efficient autonomous driving systems and vehicle motion in order to realize a society of smart mobility without road accidents or traffic congestion, and with a lightened driver burden. Furthermore, by advancing electrification in light of the ZEV (Zero Emission Vehicles) regulations required for sales of electric vehicles that do not emit exhaust gas, we are also contributing to the realization of a better car society by maximizing environmental and driving performance.
