Hirofumi Sakamoto, Chief Engineer, Vehicle System Design Department, Kasado Transportation Systems Division
Mr. Sakamoto was born in Yamaguchi Prefecture where Kasado Works, Hitachi's vehicle construction section, is located. He is a young highly and respected Engineer who will lead the future of the Vehicle System Design Department. Mr. Sakamoto's first milestone after joining the company was to draw up a structural plan of Tokyo Monorail's vehicle body. His hobbies include taking long rides on his motorcycle, he recently went on a five-day trip to Kagoshima on his motorcycle.

The Rail Vehicle Section of Hitachi produced steam locomotives and is regarded as a pioneer of Japanese rail vehicle technologies since its inception. Since then it has paved the way for the future of rail vehicles with advanced technologies, including bullet trains, monorail cars and the aluminum body A-train.
