Hitachi

Mobile WiMAX System

Overview

Hitachi offers mobile IEEE 802.16e-compliant WiMAX solutions. Our total solutions encompass Access Service Network base stations (BS), ASN-GW, and the Operation and Maintenance Center (OMC). The ER3000 mobile WiMAX base station uses advanced S-OFDMA technology, MIMO technology, and the TDD system. The ER3000 mobile WiMAX system enables mobile broadband data communications. For application examples of the ER3000 Mobile WiMAX base station, see System Configuration.

Benefits

Mobile WiMAX standards

  • Up to 75 Mbps (theoretical) throughput
  • MCBCS and QoS support
  • Broadband services such as high speed download, video streaming and broadcast/multicast

Full lineup of solutions

  • Hitachi provides all components, BS, ASN-GW and OAM. Our full lineup is able to meet all your needs for system enhancement and functional expansion.
  • The OAM system controls all the BS and ASN-GW through a unified operation control interface.

System flexibility and expandability

  • Multi-processor architecture allows starting with a small configuration and expanding as required.
  • Additional processing capability for increasing users and function expansion is realized by add-on processor board.

High performance

  • Macro BS: The smallest Macro BS in the world is highly integrated 2 carriers of 10 W/10 MHz each within a single box.
  • Pico BS: The Pico BS id applicable for both of indoor/outdoor use with its flexible RF output up to 500 mW.
  • ASN-GW: High throughput, call processing capacity and number of sessions by specialized hardware.

Fault tolerance

  • High system reliability is realized for ASN-GW and OAM by redundant configuration.

System Configuration

  • ASN: Access Service Network
  • CSN: Connectivity Service Network
  • ASN-GW: Access Service Network-GateWay (Access service network-gateway)
  • PDA: Personal Data Assistance (Personal data assistance)
  • BS: Base Station (Base station)
  • HA: Home Agent (Home agent)
  • AAA: Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting (Authentication, authorization, and accounting)
  • MCBCS: MultiCasting and BroadCasting System (Multicasting and broadcasting system)
  • OAM System: Operation and Maintenance System (Operation and maintenance system)

ASN-GW

The ER3000 mobile WiMAX ASN-GW is an access gateway accommodating mobile WiMAX base stations. The processor cluster architecture shares and balances loads according to the magnitude of traffic. It requires a small operation cost when the traffic is low following the initial introductory period and can be expanded in the future to cope with high traffic. ASN-GW complies with the QoS standard. In addition, it supports IPv4/v6 and Mobile-IPv4/v6 dual-stack modes to ensure compatibility with IPv6 when IP address depletion occurs.
