Lately, with the introduction of instruction that employs streaming delivery and live broadcasting of instruction at remote campuses, campus networks have an urgent need for interconnection over high-speed lines. Hitachi offers the following solution for making the systems at the main and remote campuses simpler and faster.
An AMN6200 communications center unit and AMN6200 local units are connected in a star configuration via a WDM filter. The local units are used for small sites (remote campuses), and dark fibers are used for the connections between campuses. In this arrangement, the existing network at each campus can still be used as it has always been used.
Because a star configuration employing a WDM filter is used, multicasts to multiple points with better IT services for campus users become possible. The star configuration also reduces the total fiber-line length and operating costs.
