Welcome to the R&D Group home page.

Hitachi declared in its midterm plan, to become the best solution partner for our customers, by making full-use of the company's knowledge and technological expertise - a rich heritage from over 90 years of technological leadership in Japan. The R&D Group continues to play a central role in creating "seeds" for the next growth of the company, and providing core competencies in all areas of Hitachi's current businesses as a technology "pilot" and innovation leader for the Hitachi group companies.

Currently, Hitachi focuses on the following four business domains to meet our social responsibilities.

  • Quality Lifestyle Solutions, using IT to build a ubiquitous information society.
  • Sustainable Environmental Solutions, providing a safe infrastructure with energy and environmental technologies.
  • Advanced Healthcare Solutions, commercializing healthcare services and biotechnology to enrich people's lives.
  • Intelligent Management Solutions, drawing on our wealth of experience and technology to contribute to corporate innovation.

In response to these demands, researchers in our corporate laboratories (currently 2,400 worldwide) are tackling a wide range of issues with the same sense of entrepreneurship as the company's founders.
