Explanation

A technical standard laid down by the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) for wireless LAN. It comprises several standards, for example, IEEE 802.11a for transmission speeds of 36-54 Mbps above the 5.2-GHz band, IEEE 802.11b for transmission speeds of 11 Mbps above the 2.4-GHz band, and IEEE 802.11g for transmission speeds of 54 Mbps above the 2.4-GHz band.
