An all-inclusive term for statistical processing that performs analysis on the basis of data expressed in multiple variables. It includes principal component analysis, factor analysis, cluster analysis, and so on. It analyzes the relations between variables and elucidates the characteristics of that data. Since there are a large number of variables to be analyzed, analyzing them by hand is difficult, so they must be analyzed by computer.
