Partial Response Maximum Likelihood
A signal processing technique used when playing back data on magnetic and optical discs. Processing combines both PR and ML techniques.
When playing back high density discs, the playback signal can contain significant distortion and other noise due to interference from neighboring data. The data can be reproduced correctly by eliminating signal noise using PRML.
