Explanation

A hard disk drive (HDD) is a device in which a recording disk is spun at high speed and data is read from the disk by a read/write head. As HDDs become smaller and more power efficient, they are increasingly being applied as a recording media for products ranging from IT devices to household appliances (e.g., video recorders and portable music players). In the "ubiquitous information society", HDDs will be built into not only household appliances but also devices such as mobile phones and motor cars. In response to this situation, Hitachi Ltd. is defining and proposing "ubiquitous HDD solutions".
