The 16th International Display Workshop (IDW2016) took place from 7th to 9th in December at Hakata in Japan. IDW2016 is one of renowned conference about optical technology and applications with about 1,200 participants from worldwide. In this conference, we gave an oral presentation titled "Common Platform for Maintenance System with Wearable Devices", which is a development method for maintenance work with wearable devices.

Recently, Hitachi Systems and other Hitachi group companies try to adapt wearable devices in their business. In this presentation, we presented an example of problems and solutions for adapting wearable devices to maintenance work.

There are a lot of maintenance fields. Wearable devices are expected on each field. But requirements of devices and OS are different between each field. It takes huge development cost for independent fields. Therefore, Hitachi Systems has developed a work support system with wearable devices. The system can absorb the difference between each OS because it is adopted HTML5.The system has been joined of CYDEEN, which is a total support solution for public works. They can provide maintenance solutions for their customer rapidly.

The work support system has several requirements for work efficiency and quality. One example is that a worker's device connects to maintained machines and gets data from them for the purpose of reducing workers miss input. Another example is that workers can operate and confirm their devices easily by voice and image recognition. We can develop these functions for each OS. But it is difficult to adapt OS native functions to HTML5.

Therefore, we have developed an interface between HTML5 and OS native functions, which is called abstraction layer. The layer can call OS native functions from HTML5 and get results data from OS native functions. The layer converts the results into standard HTML5 method.

The method we proposed can adapt four times OS than previous research method. Previous method is only for Linux, but our method is not only for Linux, but also for Windows, iOS, and Android.
