Large-scale video-surveillance system

Large-scale video-surveillance system

We are carrying out research and development on video surveillance aimed at providing safe and secure building spaces. This work involves developing technologies such as technology for monitoring images from multiple cameras and technology for automatically detecting abnormal behaviors in video images.

Our research covers a diverse range of fields-such as platforms for large-scale video surveillance (i.e., system platforms), components (i.e., system parts), and applications.

Platform A platform for efficiently monitoring images from several cameras is being developed. A key point in regards to effectively utilizing available bandwidth is determining the "level of importance" of each captured image and preferentially transmitting those imaged deemed "high importance" ones.
Components Image-processing technology for components like monitoring-use video recorders and technology for detecting, for example, moving objects and stationary objects are being developed.
Applications Several technologies, such as that for detecting abnormal behaviors of passengers in elevators, and monitoring applications for assuring safety and security are being developed.
