It is becoming commonplace for each home to have a flat panel TV. Hitachi's line-up includes many models that range from large-screen plasma display panels (PDP) to medium-size liquid crystal displays (LCD) and we are responding to consumer needs with the "Wooo" brand. It features environment-friendly low power consumption, yet presents a variety of video content at the highest display quality at a moderate price. To achieve such features, continuous technological development in device structure, materials, manufacturing process and display principle is indispensable. There is also a demand for development of small and medium size LCDs for portable appliances and organic LED (OLED) displays which hold promise as lighter and easier to view due to their ultimate display quality and thinness. Hitachi Research Laboratory is doing vigorous R & D from various view points of the devices.
