System LSI's and controllers which are the basis of ubiquitous information society, are one of our research areas. By making system LSI's and controllers to have more functions, smaller, more dependable, and easier to develop, we are contributing to the progress of social systems such as railways, automobiles, and power systems.
As system LSI's and controllers have more and more functions, the effects of their malfunctions have become more serious, so dependable technologies to avoid malfunctions of them are very important. We are doing researches to make social systems more dependable by technologies such as:
a) On-chip redundant microprocessor which contains two CPU's, and detects failures of the CPU's by comparing the operation results of them
b) Retry technology to recover from transient failures by re-executing the operation
c) Technology to minimize the effects of controllers' failures by detecting which controllers have failures and reconfiguring the system to operate without the controllers with failures
