  Improvement of productivity and quality for embedded control software development is needed while the software development grows in stature and increases in complexity in automobiles, railways, buildings, industrial facilities, construction machinery, and so on.We are working on embedded software development technology and embedded software architecture to achieve both increasing productivity and high quality.

Embedded control software is embedded for various types of control, so in addition to the real-time capability and reliability that are essential to control, it is required to be implemented in various types of products and on microcontrollers that have limited resources. Furthermore, the distributed control systems that are made practical in large-scale plant are being extended to application in the embedded systems of automobiles and other such systems. The Hitachi Research Laboratory has been taking up the challenge of R & D on model-based development, which employs simulations based on control models and automatic code generation as technology for increasing productivity of various control software, as well as a software product line that implements strategic reuse of software assets. We are also developing software architecture for distributed control over a network.
