Hitachi Ltd. sends out a wide variety of products into the world. Moreover, we are striving to improve reliability of products so that they can be fully utilized throughout their lifetimes. The technology for creating these reliable products is called "Monozukuri" technology.
"Monozukuri" technology covers a wide variety of products-namely, products made of metals and plastics, sizes in large and small. Any of these products contain many different parts and materials, and the methods for piecing them all together are called "joining technologies." Moreover, in order that products can bring out full of their properties, it is necessary to suppress degradation phenomena like abrasion and corrosion. Such phenomena occur at either the surface of parts or at the boundary between parts, and the techniques for suppressing them and improving functionality are called "surface-modification technologies."
At Hitachi Research Laboratory, we are performing research and development on the basic technologies for supporting manufacturing-namely, the joining technologies and surface-modification technologies mentioned above.
