An environment-measurement device:
quartz-crystal microbalance (QCM)

High-purity-metal production equipment
Corrosion is the degradation of metal due to electrochemical processes. In an environmentally responsive society, facilities that account for effective resource utilization and the environment in regards to power generators, cars, household appliances, and electronic devices take primary importance, and it is necessary to develop technology that minimizes increases in environmental load due to corrosion. Controlling corrosion reactions on various metallic surfaces (from steel to copper, aluminum, and magnesium) under various environments (such as fast-flowing water, high temperature, acidic, or alkaline) underpins the high reliability of Hitachi's products. In particular, for corrosion measurement, we are developing a quartz-crystal microbalance (QCM) and accelerated corrosion testing (ACTE); for anticorrosion treatment, we are developing a "pre-filming" method, high-purity metal production and new technologies. In addition, we are taking up the challenge of developing a corrosion-prediction simulator.
