Research on structural strength of micro gas turbine

Hitachi strives to guarantee the reliability of each product through the use of advanced techniques for experimentation, analysis and measurement to develop techniques for evaluating the optimum structures of new products and to develop techniques for remaining life assessment and preventive maintenance to extend the life of products in service.

Gas turbine life evaluation technique

[Explanation of the upper diagram]
The micro gas turbine is shown as an example of research on structural strength. We applied digital engineering to do numerical analysis and study assembly productivity, test various materials in a simulated plant environment, and build a prototype micro gas turbine. Satisfaction of the target performance was confirmed through the testing of prototypes for performance and reliability.

[Explanation of the lower diagram]
A gas turbine life evaluation technique is shown as an example of research on structural strength. To evaluate the life of turbines, which are subjected to combustion gases at temperatures of over 1300 degrees C, we are developing the most advanced techniques for material testing ,evaluation and damage analysis.
We apply that technology in developing a system for remote life assessment of gas turbines over the Internet.
