At Hitachi Research Laboratory, a wide range of R&D work is being carried out from platforms (such as "single-eye" cameras, stereo cameras, and rear cameras) to image-recognition technology. By developing sensing technology that covers the whole vehicle (i.e., not only the front and rear of a car but also the sides), we are aiming to create a motorized society free of accidents.
At Hitachi Research Laboratory, aiming at creating a society based on safe and secure transport, we are pushing ahead with R&D on sensing technologies such as vehicle recognition, pedestrian recognition, and lane-recognition by car-mounted cameras.

Development of multi-functional front cameras
Traveling lane, raindrops, steamed-up glass, fog, and so on can be detected.
Development of stereo cameras
By generating a disparity map in real time by means of stereo-image-processing LSI, pedestrians, cars and so on can be detected accurately.
Development of rear and side cameras
Vehicles approaching from the sides or rear of a car can be detected.
Image-recognition-processing accelerator-mounted SoC for car navigation
Both navigation and image processing can be done on a single chip
