Today, enterprise information systems are no longer considered as just a cost but as a means to contribute to enterprise strategy if used effectively and strategically. To provide an effective system, the five focus areas identified by COBIT*1, alignment with strategy, value delivery, resource management, risk management and performance measurement, are important. Risk management is of particular importance due to the establishment of what is commonly called the Japanese SOX Act*2 (part of the Law on Sales of Financial Products) and the increasing need for business continuity management. R&D is being conducted on information system management methods employing technology such as visualization techniques used in financial conversion evaluation.
