R&D is being conducted on PC server virtualization structure, an area of increasing attention. The structure provides a basic virtualization function which partitions a physical server into logical servers (LPARs: Logical Partitions), and includes technology such as hardware virtualization assistance, dedicated allocation of physical resources, and high-performance communication between LPARs. These enable the consolidation of a system-wide service environment, including back-end database servers, into fewer servers. Further, the structure reduces interference among LPARs by minimizing resource sharing among them, contributing to guaranteed performance, high reliability, and improved security.
