With increasing data being generated by industry and society, efficient data management and reliable data protection is a critical issue for current storage systems. To provide such storage solutions, storage virtualization technology which achieves integrated management of large volumes of data, and long-distance remote-copy technology which ensures minimum data loss in the event of disasters and quick business recovery, has been developed. In particular, the storage virtualization technology is employed in Hitachi's enterprise storage system products, contributing to their global top market share as the world's first storage system with a storage virtualization mechanism.
Further, by applying our experience in application layers, fast and reliable storage systems with easy data management are being developed. For example, a pre-fetch technique based on the query plan for database systems that greatly increases access performance* has been developed. At Hitachi, we will continue developing core technology for safe, reliable and useful data storage system solutions.
