The use of biometrics in personal identification is increasing in popularity as it provides both high security and convenience. At the same time, biometric information such as fingerprint or finger vein pattern is highly sensitive personal information which cannot be changed like a password. To protect this information, authentication technology which protects biometric data using encryption, and verifies it without decryption, is being developed. Using this technology, biometric data is kept secret throughout the authentication process, reducing the risk of biometric data leakage and achieving a much more secure biometric authentication system.
