Image representation is evolving from a world of two dimensions to one of three dimensions. As for Systems Development Laboratory, Hitachi Ltd., we are pushing ahead with research aimed at practical application of an "interactive autostereoscopic display"—which can be enjoyed without the need for special glasses. Regarding the efforts to pursue reality, in accordance with advances in lens-manufacturing technology and the launch of high-definition liquid-crystal displays, credible accomplishments are being cited.
