Recently, the volume of unstructured data such as e-mails and image files handled by IT systems has expanded massively. At the same time, management of storage systems has become more complicated, including an associated increase in power consumption by storage devices is causing significant concern. At Hitachi, in regards to Network Attached Storage (NAS), the capability of integrating file servers by means of NAS virtualization is being developed. By migrating to virtualized NAS, it is possible to not only reduce "total cost of ownership" (TCO) but also to easily deploy NAS systems with large capacity and high reliability. Furthermore, from now on, Hitachi will continue strategic efforts advancing "green IT" by further reducing power consumption.
