Since joining Systems Development Laboratory, Hitachi, Ltd. in 1996, Tsuyoshi Minakawa has been engaged in research and development on Projector Array systems. Such a system projects images from multiple projectors and combines them seamlessly into a single image in such a way that they appear to be projected from a single projector. This article first describes the path taken up till now by research and development on Projector Array systems, and then outlines the future direction this research will take.
