ATM technology has had a great impact on network architecture design.
It is becoming a key technology not only for the Broadband Integrated Services Digital Network (B-ISDN), but also for the networking infrastructure of a whole range of communications media-from legacy telephone networks to B-ISDN.
This paper describes Hitachi's view of future network systems architectures.
Within this scope, Hitachi's switching and transmission technology, operations support, and service operations are presented as key elements in future network designs.
