ABSTRACT

With the prevalence of digital networks, manufacturers are actively producing videophones and video conferencing systems. These are being priced lower and are being miniaturized.

Along with this trend, Hitachi has developed the HV-300 high-performance videophone for business use.

The HV-300 is an all-in-one desktop color moving-picture videophone.

The videophone has a single board as a network control unit (NCU) and a single board as a video coder-decoder (CODEC) unit that conforms to ITU-T standards.

Hitachi has developed these boards using custom single chip LSIs for the video CODEC, video interface (VIF) and multiplexes and demultiplexes multimedia information (MUX).

The compact electronics make it a minimum class videophone.
