Infrastructure for Distributed Objects

Takuma Sudo, Software Development Center, Hitachi, Ltd.

ABSTRACT

Corresponding with the diffusion of the Internet and the establishment of the information superhighway, computing is realizing a virtual and global system. As one of the key technologies of the new information infrastructure, distributed object management is thought to be an important concept. The Object Management Group (OMG) established Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA)1) 2.0. This architecture enables distributed object systems to be heterogeneous. Furthermore, OMG established the Object Transaction Service (OTS) specification, which is expected to become the core of business systems.

Hitachi has developed Transaction Processing Broker (TPBroker) as an OTS, using the technologies of an existing Transaction Processing (TP) monitor, Open Transaction Processing Monitor 1 (OpenTP1). Users can build a transaction processing system based on object-oriented technology. We will ensure connectivity to other object-oriented products and provide a highly productive and scalable infrastructure.
