M Parallel DB/DC for a Large-Scale and Flexible Information System

ABSTRACT

An enterprise keeps and operates a large amount of data which is stored in the data center. A database/data communication (DB/DC) system manages this valuable data for the company. An M Parallel DB/DC system operates on multiple central processing nodes (CPNs) which are connected and cooperate with each other. The capacity of an M Parallel DB/DC system is scalable, and can be easily increased by connecting new CPNs for a growing amount of data. These days data in the data center has become more valuable and useful. It can be accessed from workstations or personal computers connected by a network system for a decision support system or any other purpose.

An M Parallel DB/DC system concentrates and manages the data of the enterprise in a relational database, and an irregular query which searches a large amount of data can be performed using a high-speed database parallel function. The relational database of an M Parallel DB/DC can be accessed using the international standard structured query language (SQL) through a network system, and the data in the data center will be the most valuable information for the operation of the enterprise. Key corporate data of the enterprise should be stored in the data center controlled with high-reliability. With Virtual-storage operating system 3 in the forefront of system product (VOS3/FS), an M Parallel DB/DC realizes the data center for a strategic information system.
