ABSTRACT

The popularization of the Internet and the World Wide Web (WWW) has had a great impact on our society. The market for Internet-based electronic commerce (EC) has become firmly established and the building of enterprise information systems (EISs), using Internet technology, is becoming widespread.

Hitachi has provided Hitachi Commerce Solution Products (HCSP), a software package for realizing secure commerce over the Internet. This package consists of a Mall Server (to implement electronic stores), a Certificate Authority Server (to issue electronic certificates), a Payment Server and a Payment Gateway (to implement secure electronic payments based on authentication).

HCSP was developed by combining the latest software technology such as the Secure Electronic Transaction (SET) protocol, which is specified by Visa International Service Assoc. and MasterCard International Inc. for secure commercial transactions, Java1) for dynamically loading client applications from servers, and the CORBA (Common Object Request Broker Architecture)2) for implementing application systems by distributed object-oriented software components across the network.
