ABSTRACT

As the importance of middle-range power operation and environmental preservation increases for thermal power stations, advanced operation and control are being demanded, along with economical operation to meet the needs of the current era. To meet these demands, an advanced information and control system for thermal power stations was developed. The system significantly improves ease of operation, reliability, and ease of maintenance.

The system was applied at cutting-edge combined-cycle power plants and coal-fired thermal power plants. An easy-to-use human interface, combining cathode-ray tubes and large screens while using multimedia and a multihost system, was employed. The digital range of control equipment was expanded using recent hardware technology.

Automatic diagram creation was also realized for everything from schematic diagrams to logic diagrams, and the functions of maintenance tools were greatly expanded.

The effectiveness of the system was confirmed through commissioning and commercial operation. Since systems with higher economy and greater reliability will be required in the future, downsizing and openness will be promoted, and cable construction costs will be reduced through expanded application of serial transmission.
