    While the current state of energy supply is facing a period of change on a global scale, the immediate issues facing each region of the world are different. This article presents examples of collaborative creation with customers in regions that are taking the initiative in dealing with these various issues, accompanied by an explanation of the global deployment strategies being pursued in each of the areas-regional grids, transmission systems, and retailers-that make up an energy solution. Hitachi intends to contribute to social innovation by utilizing the knowledge it has acquired in these areas to work collaboratively with customers on implementing energy solutions that fit the characteristics and requirements of each region, using a broad range of equipment and system technologies, and IT.

    ABOUT THE AUTHORS

    Yasuo Sato

    Energy Management Systems Research Department, Center of Technology Innovation - Energy, Research & Development Group, Hitachi, Ltd. He is currently engaged in the research and development of electric power system operation and control. Mr. Sato is a member of the Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan (IEEJ).

    Tohru Watanabe

    Customer Co-creation Project, Global Center for Social Innovation - Tokyo, Research & Development Group, Hitachi, Ltd. He is currently engaged in the research and development of energy information systems. Mr. Watanabe is a member of the IEEJ, and the Society of Instrument and Control Engineers (SICE).

    Hiroto Sasaki

    Transportation, Energy and Environment Research Laboratory, European R&D, Hitachi Europe Ltd. He is currently engaged in the research and development of energy solutions. Mr. Sasaki is a member of the IEEE.

    Jun Yamazaki

    Big Data Lab, Global Center for Social Innovation - North America, R&D Division, Hitachi America, Ltd. He is currently engaged in the research and development of electric power system stabilization solutions. Mr. Yamazaki is a member of the IEEJ, the IEEE, and International Council on Large Electric Systems (CIGRE).

    Tatsuya Yamada

    Strategy Planning Division, Energy Solutions Business Unit, Hitachi, Ltd. He is currently engaged in strategy planning for the energy solutions business.
