Amid the many changes of recent years, which include urbanization, demographic change due to aging populations, climate change, and resource shortages, the use of innovation to address the societal challenges highlighted by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is picking up pace around the world. The movement toward realizing a sustainable society that overcomes societal and environmental challenges on a global level while also improving people’s quality of life is starting to make tangible progress.
“Contribute to society through the development of superior, original technology and products” has been Hitachi’s corporate credo since its foundation, providing a basis on which we have utilized innovation to address the challenges confronting society. Our aim is to fulfill public expectations for the creation of a sustainable society through our Social Innovation Business, which generates new value by combining the operational technology (OT) we have built up over a century through our own manufacturing experience with our five decades of advancement in IT, and a very wide product range.
The 2021 Mid-term Management Plan launched in FY2019 intends to achieve global leadership in our Social Innovation Business that will serve as a driving force behind realizing Society 5.0 and achieving the SDGs. To do so, we have identified Mobility, Smart Life, Industry, Energy, and IT as five key business sectors where we are working together with customers to increase social, environmental, and economic value.
Hitachi’s vision for the future includes a human-centric society that provides well-being and a better quality of life for all, maintaining harmony with nature and incorporating the various characteristics of different places rather than simply pursuing what is comfortable. Thank you for your support as we devote ourselves to delivering the “goodness” that people everywhere deserve through our “Hitachi Social Innovation is POWERING GOOD” message that expresses the vision behind our 2021 Mid-term Management Plan.
