Approximately 600 people attended the two-day forum. They included business people, government officials, academics and university students.
The distinguished guest of honor and keynote speaker on day one of the forum was His Excellency Prof. Dr. Bambang Sudibyo, MBA, Minister of National Education of Republic of Indonesia, who delivered the keynote speech on the theme of the 9th HYLI, "Strengthening Asian Partnerships - Economic Integration and Energy Management". On the second day, His Excellency Professor. Ir. Purnomo Yusgiantoro, MSc., MA., Ph.D. of Republic of Indonesia, took over as keynote speaker, sharing his considerable experience and knowledge with the participants and audience. The forum sessions also included panel discussions in which six other prominent leaders from the region shared their valuable insights on the following two sub-themes:
- Formulating an East Asian Economic Community - Challenges and Opportunities
- Energy Management for Economic Growth and Environmental Sustainability in East Asia
The young leaders actively exchanged views with these distinguished leaders. In the question & answer sessions, lively discussions were held between the speakers, young leaders and even the audience.
