- Factors relating to the revision of the forecast -

While large computers are doing well, as in fiscal 1996 prices of semiconductor memories have fallen more than expected, resulting in a major deterioration in the state of sales and income. In addition, the weak Japanese economy and the dampening effect of the increase in the consumption tax in Japan have had a major impact on the wide range of consumer products. Thus, the outlook is that results will fall far short of the previous forecast.
