- The price is up to 30% lower than the previous models in RAID 5 configuration -

Hitachi, Ltd. today announced that on April 6 it will renew its product line-up of DF350 of disk arrays for open systems applications in the Japanese market. Improvements to the disk control program enables RAID (redundant array of independent disks) 5 performance to be achieved using just three disks consisting of two data disks and one parity disk. The new models offer a small minimum storage capacity of 4.1 GB*1 in a RAID level 5 implementation with the price of up to 30% lower than the previous models*2, which results in support for small Windows NT(R) systems such as those for SOHO market. In addition, usage of 18 GB disks can realize maximum capacity of 1.4 terabytes*3, which will meet a diverse range of needs in an open system environment.

In March 1997, Hitachi introduced the first DF350 disk arrays for open systems, which has gained an excellent reputation for its high levels of performance and reliability.
