by Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.

Tokyo, Japan, December 14, 2000-Hitachi, Ltd.(TSE:6501) announced today that it had purchased shares of Xanavi Informatics Corporation held by Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. (TSE: 7201) making the company a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi on December 8, 2000.

Xanavi Informatics Corporation was jointly established in January 1991 by Hitachi and Nissan Motor, with Hitachi holding a 51% stake and Nissan a 49% stake.
