Tokyo, October 10, 2017 ---Hitachi Automotive Systems, Ltd. today announced that it would introduce advanced systems for vehicle development under the theme of "Moving Forward! to a future connecting people, vehicles and society" at the 45th Tokyo Motor Show 2017 to be held at Tokyo Big Sight from October 27 (Fri) to November 5 (Sun). Based on mechatronics technology, the advanced systems will include vehicle electrification and autonomous driving systems.

Recently, governments around the world are actively promoting the popularization of electrified vehicles in order to reduce environmental impacts. In France and the UK, deadlines have been announced for banning the sale of gasoline and diesel vehicles, while China and the United States are also encouraging the spread of zero-emissions vehicles through tightened regulations. In addition, the governments of various countries have announced policies related to autonomous driving vehicles in order to reduce traffic accidents, alleviate traffic jams, and support mobility, including mobility for the elderly. Automobile manufactures and related companies are accelerating development, and measures for solving the issues associated with automotive societies are advancing on a global scale.

Hitachi Automotive Systems offers advanced systems such as electrification and autonomous driving systems, which will serve as the keys for solving the issues associated with automotive societies. By contributing to the development of next-generation vehicles, we aim to create new value for society.

Hitachi Automotive Systems will hold a display in collaboration with Hitachi, Ltd. in East Hall 6 (E6202) at the 45th Tokyo Motor Show 2017. In addition to Hitachi Automotive Systems' products and systems in the environment and safety fields, by utilizing the information and communication technologies possessed by Hitachi Ltd., the companies will present advanced vehicle development technologies including connected solutions. The products, technologies, and solutions will be presented in the following corners of the display.

Autonomous Driving System Corner

A showcase car will be equipped with an electrification system that is essential for responding to environmental regulations, as well as an autonomous driving system realized through the coordination of 360° sensing technology and safety control technology in order to reduce traffic accidents and ease traffic jams. Along with video footage describing the technologies, a virtual presentation will be given using Maxell, Ltd.'s heads-up display.

Improved Fuel Efficiency Engine System Corner

This corner will introduce a next-generation gasoline engine system aiming to further improve fuel efficiency, including intake and exhaust systems, as well as heat exchange systems that improve the efficiency of fuel combustion.

Motorsports Corner

This corner will feature a Hitachi-designed race car for the Japanese Super Formula Championship, Japan's foremost racing competition, which Hitachi Automotive Systems is a promotional partner of. Visitors can sit in a driving seat designed to recreate an actual cockpit, and view exciting circuit footage.

VR Ride Theater

Autonomous driving technology can be experienced in virtual reality, with footage viewed through a VR headset on a motion ride where the seat moves corresponding to the video footage.

Additionally, Clarion Co., Ltd., a Hitachi Group company, will hold a display in the East Hall 8 (E8401). This booth will include displays of a demonstration car equipped with Smart Cockpit solution technology proposed for the autonomous driving age, as well as a cutting-edge car navigation system that includes the Quad View function, which can display four types of information on one screen, including navigation and audio.
