The UK hosted the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow from 1 – 12 November 2021.
A record number of delegates from nearly 200 countries and territories attended COP26, which resulted in the Glasgow Climate Pact (GCP) and several pledges around ending or reducing deforestation, methane emissions, investment into oil and gas projects, and more.

Hitachi is strengthening its climate target to contribute to a Net Zero society by achieving carbon neutrality through its entire value chain including production, procurement and the use of products and services by 2050.

Hitachi took part in several events during the two weeks of COP26. Here are a few highlights.
On Transport Day, we joined “What Comes After the Tipping Point? Opportunities from the ZEV Transition” chaired by Nichola Mallon, Minister for Infrastructure in Northern Ireland.

Our Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer, Lorena Dellagiovanna, spoke about Hitachi’s work to decarbonize on the plenary session “Presidency Event: Building Back Better: Accelerating deep collaboration for Built Environment climate action”.
We hosted an event called “Towards Net Zero – Greening Cities Through Low Carbon Connected Urban Transport”. Chief Environmental Officer Alistair Dormer gave the keynote, and it was chaired by our CDO for Europe, Ram Ramachander.

As an event outside of the COP26 venue, “Towards Net Zero - Hitachi Value-Chain Innovators” was held online on November 8 as a global event for procurement partners of the Hitachi Group.
