Image: Turning waste into resources through recycling!

Promoting material recycling to turn plastic waste into plastic raw material, instead of disposing of it as waste.

Sawa Works, Hitachi Astemo, Ltd. is engaged in the R&D, design, and manufacture of automotive electronics, engine equipment, and electric parts. Waste is sorted into about 80 categories; a final disposal rate of less than 0.1% has been achieved by establishing a recycling scheme for each waste category. -Focusing on material recycling that turns plastic waste, including parts trays, styrene foam, and packing materials, into "plastic raw material", all employees are committed to sorting the waste by material. Thus, 165 tonnes of waste were recycled in FY 2015. A photovoltaic power generation system was installed on the technical center, and the power generated is used at the site.

Employees are increasingly aware that as much resources as possible should be recycled.
