Research & development support systems

We contribute to the safety and stability of the bullet train. We support research and development into comfortable and secure railways.

Overview

By placing a bullet train car or conventional rail car in this device and performing rolling vibration tests, it is possible to simulate the running characteristics of trains , the performance characteristics, the interactions between the car and the tracks, the properties at high speed running, and the running conditions at the real tracks.

Rolling Stock Test Plant

By placing a bullet train car or conventional rail car in this device and performing tests, it is possible to determine the operability, the performance characteristics, and the interaction effects between the car and the tracks, etc.

Key functions

  • The traveling conditions can be simulated by rotating rail wheels that correspond to the rails.
  • Vertical and lateral fluctuations can be applied to the rail wheels to simulate the real situations in the tracks.
  • Inertia corresponding to an actual rail car is applied using a flywheel device.
  • The drive motor is capable of absorbing loads, to simulate the slope conditions.

Bogie Running Test Apparatus

After maintenance has been carried out on the trucks of the bullet train, they should be evaluated at the high speeds and axle loads that are the same as actual running speeds and axle loads. Then inspection is carried out on the wheel shaft bearings, truck framework, main electric motors, etc., to inspect for unusual temperature increases, vibrations, or oil leaks, etc. A running test is carried out with 1 set of 2 trucks, and the wheels of the test trucks are rotated by drive motors via the rail wheel device. Axle loads are applied by hydraulic force of a loading device via the air springs of the trucks.
