Autonomous Decentralized Service System
ADSS (Autonomous Decentralized Service System) is the meta-network system build by the analogy of life form. The study of Autonomous Decentralized system, the predecessor of ADSS has started in 1977. Autonomous Decentralized system is what each element making a system has an autonomy and fulfill it's function by the interaction between them. Autonomous Decentralized System developed by Hitachi, has contributed to the traffic control system of a railroad and the making large-scale factories into automation. ADSS is what try applying this Autonomous Decentralized system to the data processing network which service function is central figure.
What builds we life form is the aggregation of small cells. The massive accumulation of cells turn into an organ to fulfill the specific function and plural organ cooperating with each other, grow up into an individual to discharge its duties of a higher order. Each cell and each organ building life form work as an element to fulfill the function of a higher order on the whole, existing as separate things to be independent and autonomous. Though each network in reality works in being independent of each other, we aim to make ADSS fulfill the function of a higher order by relating to each network as life form.
The networks making ADSS are easy to be added to, or to be eliminated. The whole system always spread or reduce, and it has a free relation but hasn't the relation of mutual dependence with each network. The essence of the system won't be influenced, by each constituent element existing or not. As for each network, it is free to join in or leave ADSS.
The second feature is self-reconstruction-function of knowledge. This has the functions on knowledge and on resources. Talking about the field of knowledge, massive, various kind of knowledge has been accumulated in the network now. In ADSS these various knowledge are shared, and ADSS, as it were, as the brain on plural network will combine fellow knowledge often used in connection with, and integrate them into knowledge of a higher order.
Also, when the amount of a certain knowledge become larger, it will be needed to enlarge the capacity of memory to store, to increase the capacity of circuit and the capacity of cache memory. To keep knowledge the newest, the assignment of calculating amount may have to be increased. Reconstituting dynamically the physical resources such as computer, memory, exchanger, communication circuit, terminal, ADSS always will keep the system optimum stage. This is self-reconstruction-function on the field of resources. This function can make repairs on it by itself to work normally as the whole system in the case where a part of physical resources goes wrong or is under the repairs. In ADSS, this have been called "Dependability", which is a necessary term in the large-scale network system.
The third feature is a dynamic security function. Though the plural network is in piles on ADSS, each network is needed to be independent. What makes it possible, is a dynamic security function. This contains authentication function, the function to encode, and electronic watermark function. Now the notion of ADSS have been recognized its meaning by OMG (Object Management Group) of dispersion object technique, and an expert committee established is under consideration the standardization of technical way.
