Loss that occurs in the iron cores of motors and transformers.

Core loss is mainly composed of hysteresis loss and eddy current loss.Energy loss that occurs due to changes in the direction of the iron core’s magnetic field is called hysteresis loss.
Moreover, when a current flows inside an iron core due to a change in the direction of the magnetic field, electric energy becomes heat and escapes to the outside. This is called eddy current loss.

Core loss is a factor in decreased efficiency of electric machines such as motors.
