A project which is the overall driving force for the creation of IC chip-enabled passports, and safe, rapid processing of airport procedures. At May 2004, the conference was held by the relevant ministries, which was part of efforts to advance the introduction of IC chip-enabled passports as mandated in the Japan government's "e-Japan Strategy II Acceleration Package" of July 2003.
