4. New Advisory Board

Midst dramatic changes in operating environment, a company needs to maintain a closer dialogue with the community than ever before. The new Advisor Board being established at Hitachi will help to make this possible.
Businesses everywhere are experiencing a fundamental transformation of the economic and social environment in which they operate. The way people view and appraise the activities of businesses changes constantly and is also rapidly diversifying. A company must therefore constantly look out for gaps between its self-evaluation and how the community sees it. Hitachi's Advisory Board, which will report directly to the President, is to include authorities in various fields selected from outside the company and, as such, will be able to provide objective advice on all aspects of Hitachi's business. Five or so members with diverse experience in various fields are being sought internationally. The first meeting will held after the Shareholders' Meeting in June.
