A Journey of Obstacles & Rising Above Them

The Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link project in Jammu & Kashmir stands as a testament to resilience and innovation. Hitachi overcame immense challenges in laying digital signalling cables across 52 km of tunnels under IRCON and 53 km under KRCL, where the use of machinery was exceptionally difficult. This demanded meticulous manual precision to ensure seamless execution. Frequent landslides and blockages further complicated the process, requiring swift and adaptive solutions. Undeterred by harsh weather and freezing conditions, Hitachi upheld its commitment to sustainability, delivering advanced solutions with minimal ecological impact.

Amid adversity, Hitachi Rail India transformed connectivity in Jammu & Kashmir with advanced digital technologies and an integrated rail portfolio. By blending innovation with rail engineering and collaborating with multiple agencies, Hitachi enabled seamless train navigation through tunnels and steep tracks.

Hitachi commissioned Digital Signalling and Telecommunication systems, integrating them seamlessly across 257 kilometres of railway, including India’s longest transportation tunnel. Electronic interlocking systems were installed at all 23 stations, redefining safety and reliability for passengers and trains alike.
