In 2013, Hitachi served as a primary sponsor for the No. 3 Team Penske Dallara/Chevrolet driven by three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves. In addition to the sponsorship, Hitachi supplied components for race engines that competed in the 2013 IZOD IndyCar Series.
